Role overview:

​

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving growth for the cargo business in the region. You’ll work closely with customers and partners to identify and close new business opportunities, and you’ll also be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies that will help to achieve business goals.
 

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy that meets or exceeds business objectives

  • Identify and close new business opportunities with key customers and partners

  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers and partners

  • Represent the company at industry events and trade shows

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments

We are looking for someone who has:
 

  • 5+ years of experience in cargo sales or a related field

  • A proven track record of success in sales

  • Strong relationship-building skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • A passion for the cargo industry

 
 

Role details:
 
Sales Strategy
You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies for the region, in line with the Head of Business Development - Cargo and the UK General Manager. You will also work with Cargo and Humanitarian broker teams to develop region-specific plans, monitor progress against the Sales Strategy, and report to the Head of Business Development.
 
Business Development
Proactively identifying opportunities to grow the business in the region, both in new and existing markets. You will also use your initiative to identify new potential areas for business development, keep up to date with competitor activity, and work towards and in line with all agreed group sales and operations strategies. Additionally, you will work in partnership with the local broker departments by providing them with all relevant information and supporting them throughout the brokering process.
 
Client Relationship Management
Cold-calling prospect clients to build on our successful portfolio of existing clients, as well as visiting potential and existing customers to generate further business. You will also maintain and develop relationships with both key clients and new business leads to maximize business opportunities and increase client loyalty in an industry where client retention is never guaranteed. 
 
Key Customer, Supplier, and GSA Relationships
Managing, sourcing, and monitoring group incentive arrangements with customers, suppliers, and GSA relationships on a local and regional level. You will also generate sales activity for all products for all customers/freight forwarders on a regional and local perspective, and continuously source for new operators/suppliers (carriers) to ensure necessary relationships are built and an increase in active clients is achieved ongoing.
 
Marketing
Work with the Marketing team in Europe to undertake region-specific marketing initiatives to ensure the growth and professional representation of the organization's brand. You’ll attend and represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, and industry events. You’ll also continuously look for suitable trade shows, exhibitions, and events and report to the Head of Business Development. 
 
As Business Development Manager you’ll also be responsible for effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and for ensuring that the company's sales strategies are implemented effectively. You’ll also play a key role in supporting local managers and staff, and in fostering a collaborative approach to business.
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, you will be responsible for other tasks, such as information management, and compliance.
