Production Manager

Position: Production Manager

Location: Sussex, UK

Salary: £65-85K depending on experience

Our client is a world-leading specialist in aerospace parts, supply, exchange, repair & lease. 

Having recently launched a repair facility in Europe, they are now looking for a Production Manager to be based in Slinfold, Sussex, to develop and manage get business at this UK facility.

​

The desired candidate will have a strong strategic and operational mindset with the leadership acumen required to grow a component repair facility and exceed customers’ turnaround time, quality, and reliability commitments.

​

Responsibilities:

​

  • Works closely with Executive to expand the facility

  • Ensures financial and budgeting controls are in line with Board expectations

  • Evaluates and manages investments for new product introductions, equipment, infrastructure, technology, and talent

  • Executes the 3-year product development roadmap

  • Manages the local shopfloor

  • Act as a voice for change and continuous improvement across the shopfloor in line with the franchise

  • Manages key customer and supplier relationships 

  •  Improves and maintains systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets

  • Manages and provides a clear sense of priority, direction, and focus to shopfloor staff

  • Maintains a culture of continuous improvement for all production staff

  • Communicates financials and objectives to the shopfloor 

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and runs day-to-day MRO operations in compliance with all company policies and relevant external standards/regulations

  • Supports shopfloor planning and alignment with sales forecasts 

  • Manages performance to Customer needs 

  • Monitors shopfloor efficiency and manpower utilization

  • Allocates resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results

  • Supports escalations from the shopfloor

  • Supports just-in-time inventory management

  • Ensures the overall delivery and quality of repair services offered to Customers

  • Oversees facility maintenance and calibration

  • Oversees the investigation of field failures or warranty of products and initiating corrective actions

  • Collects and analyses data to monitor performance and identify waste and areas of improvement

  • Stays up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts

  • Supports inventory and quality audits 

  • Acts as the signatory and accountable for Quality and certification

  • Promotes a safe culture via the Health and Safety committee, compliance, and case management

  • Promotes organizational health, wellness, and motivation programs

  • Commits to and ensures adherence to safety procedures and addresses employee issues

  • Oversees training programs to boost qualifications

Qualifications:

 

  • 7+ years experience in aerospace management

  • Strong financial and operational acumen

  • High calibre of analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills with a hands-on approach and ability to meet short-term commitments while executing on process improvements

  • Experience in leading 5S and other lean production techniques

  • Knowledge of aerospace quality requirements and aviation regulatory requirements

  • Ability to work at all levels, establishing strong relationships with shopfloor and Board/Group
