Landing a job in the private aviation industry can be exciting, but the competition can be fierce. Here are some tips to help you shine in your interview.

Before the interview:

  1. Research

Go beyond the website. Dig into their fleet, clientele, values, and recent news.

  2. Practice

Prepare concise and compelling responses to questions about your experience, skills, and what

attracted you to the company. Anticipate questions specific to the industry, like "How would you handle a last-minute client request for a flight to a challenging destination?" or "Describe a time you went above and

    beyond for a VIP client."

  3. Dress professionally and appropriately

First impressions matter. Research the company's dress code and err on the side of conservative elegance. Think polished and polished.

  4. Prepare portfolio/references

Depending on the role, having a portfolio showcasing your achievements or references from previous

employers can be a strong asset.

During the interview:

  1. Be confident and professional

Speak clearly, maintain eye contact, and project a positive attitude. Remember, enthusiasm is contagious!

  2. Highlight your transferable skills

Even if you haven't worked in private aviation before, emphasise relevant skills like customer service,

problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.

  3. Ask insightful questions

This shows you're engaged and genuinely interested in the role and the company. Prepare questions about their culture, growth plans, or client experiences.

  4. Show your passion for the industry

Express your genuine interest in private aviation and willingness to learn. Share any relevant hobbies or

activities that demonstrate your affinity for travel, luxury, or service.

  5. Follow up afterwards

Send a thank-you email within 24 hours, reiterating your interest and key points discussed.

Additional tips:

  1. Network

Attend industry events, connect with professionals on LinkedIn, and reach out to your network for

    informational interviews.

  2. Tailor your resume and cover letter

Highlight your skills and experience relevant to the specific role and company.

  3. Be honest and authentic

Don't try to be someone you're not. The best companies will appreciate your genuine personality and potential.

  4. Remember

The private aviation industry values discretion, excellent service, and a passion for exceeding expectations. By showcasing your relevant skills, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm, you'll be well on your way to landing your dream job in this exciting field.
