Senior Manager, Cargo Charter

Updated: 2 days ago

Location: Hybrid, London Area
Salary: Negotiable + bonus + benefits

Our client has, for many generations, provided global air charter solutions both in the passenger and air freight sectors. This global player offers a remarkable working environment, and great employee progression with an ethos of teamwork in a field where delivering great service, whilst finding solutions for complex transport problems, is paramount. Working in such a global company will broaden horizons but above all else, it’s a fun place to work! Seize the opportunity to become a Senior Passenger Charter Broker and join our client’s world-class team.

Role:

While some brokering will be involved, the primary focus is on team leadership and operational oversight. Our client is seeking a strong people manager someone capable of acting as the local lead in their London office and serving as the senior stakeholder’s proxy on the ground. The emphasis is on day-to-day team management and performance delivery, not front-line charter sales.

As Senior Manager, Cargo Charter you'll be responsible to:

  • Effectively manage the UK-based Cargo Charter team and ensure individual, team and company objectives are met.

  • Guide, support and develop the team while ensuring adherence to company policy, operational best practice and commercial standards.

  • Drive the performance of the UK operation, improving load factors, yield, and profitability.

  • Lead day-to-day planning, execution and troubleshooting to ensure the team delivers consistently across customer service, financial targets, and vendor relationships.

  • Support existing client relationships while overseeing enquiry handling, ensuring tailored charter solutions are delivered profitably and within operational constraints.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, oversight, and operational support to a team of cargo brokers.

  • Deliver mentoring, coaching and formal training to team members; build an open, collaborative and high-performing culture.

  • Set team objectives and performance targets in line with company expectations; monitor and support individual progress.

  • Ensure all enquiries and bookings are handled professionally and profitably — from quoting through to contract and delivery.

  • Lead negotiations with aircraft operators to secure competitive solutions for clients.

  • Ensure all contractual, insurance and compliance matters meet legal and company standards.

  • Act as the key local contact for client requirements, ensuring commercially viable solutions are delivered with precision.

  • Strengthen relationships with key accounts and pursue new business opportunities, enhancing retention and client value.

  • Oversee team performance reporting and produce monthly management updates as required.

We're looking for someone that has:

  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in the cargo aviation space

  • Strong working knowledge of the air cargo charter sector

  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Skilled in client relationship management and operational delivery

  • Ability to balance commercial goals with service excellence

What's on offer?

A competitive salary and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work with a talented and dedicated team. If you are a driven and ambitious individual who is looking for a challenging and rewarding career, then we encourage you to apply today.
